Like most others I thought that these looked ridiculous. After a friend
convinced me to give them a try, I ordered the Fila Skele-Toes. Have
been using them now off and on for about four weeks. Running in these
is completely different than running in normal shoes. The design
actually forces you into a more natural gait for which our bodies were
designed; shorter strides with impact primarily on the forefoot rather
than the heel. The effect is a more natural stride that minimizes
injuries to knees. However, you should be warned that depending on how
far you run, you will experience soreness in the calf area (at first). I
normally run between 4-5 miles five to six times per week and have
already become accustomed to the difference and therefore am
experiencing minimal soreness now. I mentioned above that these are
being used off and on right now. The only reason I am not using them
full time is that I do not have enough pairs of the toe socks to allow
for full time use. Toe socks are between $10-$12 a pair so if you run a
lot, you will need a lot of toe socks. Sizes for these run true to
normal shoe size. Downside is that there are no half sizes (at least in
my range) so mine are a little loose and must be tightened
significantly to get the snug feel required for running. Another minor
downside is that they are rather difficult to get on unless you have
perfectly aligned toes (I do not). Highly recommended!
